Who is Obama

Krauthammer says we don't know Obama now and we may not know him until Inauguration Day but from then on it will be a rude awakening.
All you conservatives who are going to stay home or write in someone else and let the liberal Obama followers elect him Pres.  ....
I don't want to hear one word of regret when the country goes to h#*l.
Remember what happened when we allowed Jimmy Carter to get in!!  We are still paying for that mistake!!

Fascinating days

The Democrats have tabled the free trade pact with Colombia to kowtow to the AFL-CIO (10 million voters! )

Harry Reid opened up a public lands bill for debate but when a Rep. offered an amendment to allow firearms in national parks Reid had a change of heart.  (Clinton and Obama both oppose the 2nd amendment)

The "Safety of Seniors Act" was passed this week taking care of seniors who fall.

A Republican introduced a bill (Put Your Money Where You Mouth Is) to allow people to contribute more than they owe in taxes.

And to top it off, Jimmy Carter is "talking" to Hamas terrorists!  When he accomplishes peace with them, maybe he can go to Iran where he might convince Ahinadinejad to behave himself  and be nice.

And how many people in this country don't even know  all this excitement is going on?

They Walk Among Us

Got this email again and you may have seen it, but here's some parts of it.
While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go.  He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6.  He thought about it for some time before he replied  "Just cut it into 4 pieces;  I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6.

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up.  She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands.  "Now," she asked me "has your plane arrived yet?"

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because , he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning.  She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?"  When my brother explained that the sun rises in the east, and has for some time, she shook her head and said, "Oh, I don't keep up with all that stuff."

One day I was walking at the beach with some friends when one of them shouted, "Look at the dead bird!"  One person looked up at the sky and said,"Where?"

THEY WALK AMONG US   AND WORST OF ALL                   THEY VOTE~~!!!

Another Prelutzky quote

Burt Prelutzky wrote another gem .  He said "But if Mrs. Clinton wins, even though she's a woman I think the Republicans in the House and

Senate would feel free to oppose her policies and attack her credibility.  However if Mr. Obama were to win, I fear that a great many conservative

politicians who lack my intestinal fortitude would bite their tongues rather than risk being called a racist."

Now this is an idea which hadn't occurred to me nor have I read it anywhere else, but with the climate the way it is it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I read somewhere else that Obama can say "a typical white woman" when talking about his grandmother, but if a white person talked about a

"typical black woman" there would be screams of racism.

IMPRIMUS!

Hillsdale College in MI puts out a small pamphlet once a month that most of you would enjoy reading.  It usually has an adaptation of a speech that has been given at the college and some of the greatest conservatives have been represented.
It is free and can be obtained by writing to Hillsdale College, 33 E.College St, Hillsdale, MI 49242  or, probably going to their web site.  http://www.hillsdale.edu    I strongly recommend it to all conservatives.    The current edition has a tribute to Wm. F. Buckley, who was a long-time friend of the college.  They established a scholarship in honor of his wife after she died and now they are establishing one in honor of Mr. Buckley , awarding a scholarship  "annually to a student demonstrating interest in subjects dear to the Buckley family, including faith, free government, and journalism."

Coulter's column

Coulter's column today is all about Obama's book!  If she has quoted correctly it should be required reading before anyone votes.  If you are too lazy to look for her  go here:   http://anncoulter.org

Unbelievable

Quote from OB:  "Look, I got two daughters...9years old and 6 years old.  I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistage, I don't want them punished with a baby."    (Stress is mine)
He was punished twice ;  I was punished 3 times.  How many kids do you have?

The River

My first memory of the river was the summer before my fifth birthday.  The picture that remains is of my mother and father paddling our canoe in the rain up to the shore behind our house, returning from a camping trip upriver.  Our dog sat in the middle of the canoe, mostly covered with a tarp, just her head peeking up over the edge of the canoe.  I remember racing down to welcome them back.
We moved shortly after that so the river didn't play a part in my life for a few years, but then I learned to swim.  All the kids I knew went down to the river to swim off the bridge over the main road through town, so, as soon as I was allowed, I joined them.
Then my father bought another canoe and mounted it on a small two-wheel trailer that he could hitch to the back of the car when he and a friend wanted to go fishing.  It sat in the back yard the rest of the time except when we took it to the river for a family trip, sometimes to visit friends a few miles upriver.
One time when I was home alone I decided to take the canoe to the river by myself.  I put a book and a lunch and a towel in the canoe and towed it the half mile down to the river.  (I have often thought, as I got older, how it must have looked to any neighbors along the way...a little five-foot girl dragging a canoe down the street).  I slid it into the water and paddled my way upriver.  I don't remember how far I went but I was gone most of the morning.  When I got back to the dock I managed to get the canoe out of the water and back onto the trailer.  It was harder getting it on than getting it off!
Then I started home and realized that the reason it had been so easy getting to the river was that it was either level or downhill...which meant it was uphill going back!  I made it, but the next time I thought of taking another solo trip, I remembered how hard it was getting home!
The time we (the kids, that is) waited for was winter when the river froze.  The small ponds froze first, of course, and we skated on all of them, but there was constant testing of the river to see if the ice was strong enough to skate on.  The sides froze first, and then the ice would gradually cover the current and eventually the whole river would be frozen solid.  Near the bridge was a wide section and if there was snow we would scrape it to make a rink-sized area where everyone would gather.  When there was no snow we would skate upriver and back.
(I keep saying "upriver"  because on the other side of the bridge was a dam with falls and fast-moving water.  We never went that way!)
The best time was at night.  The boys would start a fire, burning wood and tires and the heat from the fire could be felt for quite a space  around it.  We usually stuck close but when we went off into the darkness it was quiet except for the occasional cracking of the ice.  The smell of the fire carried out onto the river and when you turned around you could see where the crowd was, some skating, others sitting on logs near the fire.   Sometimes a couple would skate off together for a while into the darkness and the layers of thick warm clothing kept romance simple and pure.
No one ever wanted to leave, but most of us had curfews so we reluctantly took off skates, put on cold boots, and headed off for home.

Prelutsky

I just read Burt Prelutsky's column of yesterday in which he says we need to vote for McCain.

There were several comments saying "Oh my , no, I could never vote for McCain!"

Now while I appreciate their sentiments...I had the same reaction when I realized he was all we had.

But then reality took over.   HE IS ALL WE'VE GOT..  You can disagree with him on many points.  I do.

You can believe he is more liberal than we want in the White House.  I do.

So all that is true, but the alternative???  You have to be kidding!   This idea that , oh well, let the Democrats win and then in 2012 there will be a backlash and the Republicans will come charging back to make it all better....is a pipe dream.

In the next few years we will have vacancies on the Supr. Ct.  which MUST be filled with strict constructionists.  What chance will that have with either Obama or Clinton?

We need to finish getting Iraq stabilized.  What chance will that have with either O or C?

You can pout all you want about how McCain is not conservative enough (and he isn't!!)  but he is all we've got!

So don't tell me you are not going to vote for the only Republican running for President!!  If he isn't conservative enough, let's find one who is for 2012, but meanwhile ...Shut up, swallow your bile, stifle your moans, and get out there and vote for
(choke choke)  MCCAIN!!!

Millard Fillmore

Millard Fillmore is a "comic" strip.  I love it!  From this morning's strip:
This just in....a survey of American college students' interpretations of the second amendment to the Constitution has been delayed...
while researchers explain to them the meaning of " second amendment" and "Constitution".

Weyrich on Education

Newsmax has an article by Paul Weyrich on the candidates offering on Education.  He says "not enough" but describes what they are suggeting.
Then he says that what "a candidate should offer is a return to local control, an emphasis upon improved and more rigorous curriculum, school choice and competition, and a significant reduction in the power of teachers' unions."
My opinion: throwing more money at the schools is not going to work and the federal government getting involved is not going to work.

Pork

There has been an effort lately to do something about pork in Congress.   71 ! members of the Senate voted against a bill that would restrain pork.  This is disgusting!
Congress is the most disgusting body of people in this country!  I see these journalists covering the news from Congress and I wonder how they can continue to do it without screaming.  How can they watch the rotten things that go on day after day?   How can they see the Congress go home for a vacation when there are important duties requiring their attention?
I write letters (or I did for a while)  to Congressmen complaining and, sometimes, screaming over the horrible situation, and KNOW that they will never see anything that criticizes them.  How do we get through to them that they are DISGUSTING,  that they should be ashamed of what they are doing to the country?
Did you get the impression that I am DISGUSTED??
Someone said "Oh let's throw out the whole bunch and start over."  But when MA sends Kennedy back time after time,  what hope is there for throwing anyone out , never mind everyone.  If one state is stupid enough to send Kennedy and Kerry back to Congress time after time, what hope is there for the whole country!
We are in a situation where we can go down the tubes because we are so much in debt.  (The debt is being bought up by countries which dislike or hate us). They make no effort to deal with the situation...neither Social Security or Medicare or the deficit...and go blithely along like these problems will cure themselves.  All they do is add to the government,  spend more money,  sneak in more pork and it gets worse and worse, bigger and bigger, and they don't even promise any progress anymore.    None of the candidates (miserable as they are) are even mentioning Social Security and Medicare.
The economy is tanking and they wring their hands and moan  and then hold hearings on baseball and football.
The longer this goes on, the more Libertarian I become.... throw out the whole government and go back to minimum (which was supposed to be the role of the federal govt!)   If you read the Constitution you discover  what the Federal government was supposed to cover... a bare minimum... the rest of the governing was supposed to be up to the states.  The size of the government now is due to them sticking their noses into every possible spot they could find...of showing each one could write more bills than the other...of each one trying for the most pork.

Quotes from the Dems

The Investor's Business Daily quotes some well-known Dems.  For ex.  T. Kennedy on 9/27/02: "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."   H. Clinton on 10/2002:  "It is clear...that if left unchecked , Saddam Hussein will continure to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Al Gore on 9/23/02:  "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
In the fall of 2002 Congress urged Bush to go to war.
Then in one of the most shameful political turnabouts in U.S. history,  they did an about face as the polls showed public support waning.
In other words, instead of supporting the President and the effort to help Iraq,  politics won out over statesmanship.
And now, in the effort to deprive Bush of any success, regardless of the consequences,  all they talk about is "getting out"
Pelosi and Reid have no concern for the country or the world , only their despising Bush.

crawfish

OK one more rant about Obama and then I am taking a break from him!  I promise!  But meanwhile, if you haven't seen Crawfish's critique of Richardson's speech  go to http://constitutionalcrawfish.blogtownhall.com/default.aspx
He uses a scalpel!  Richardson is, of course, the gov. of New Mexico, former friend of the Clintons who has endorsed OB.
So on to other topics...there must be some somewhere!
Oh, if you would like a short course in economics go to the comments in http://tonewah.blogtownhall.com/default.aspx
under "When Will America Abandon Socialism"
Tonewah does a great job of explaining simply for ignoramuses like me.
And my latest copy of the Patriot Post just got printed so I have to go read that!  It is being sent to many servicepeople in Iraq and , they say, makes them feel good.
                                       ......................................................
There was a column in the local left-wing paper today from (what else?) the LA Times, a kindred soul to this local (the Daytona New-Journal).  It was written by Joel Stein and called "Take the dude (Bernanke) on a pub crawl"
The meaning of that title is finally explained in the last paragraph.  "Someone has got to calm the dude down.  Take him for a spa day.  Or on a pub crawl."   Now how's that for supercilious superiority!    Does Bush know that in LA there is someone who could do a better job for the Feds than Bernanke?   And here we are suffering in a scary financial situation when Mr. Stein could solve it for us!    But he says that "no one besides the Fed is panicking."  So that's a relief.  I can stop panicking.
